How to lose weight as a stay-at-home mother?

When you’re a stay-at-home mum, it’s sometimes hard to lose weight because you just reach out and grab something to snack on.

However, it is quite possible to lose weight by following these tips.

Staying at home and staying slim

British research has shown that stay-at-home mothers gain weight because they do not lose enough calories while cleaning.

Instead, they gain more calories by snacking on whatever they can get their hands on.

Although this is a matter of debate, it can be concluded that to lose the extra kilos you have to work your body. Firstly by doing household chores, and secondly by doing some extra exercise.

Household chores to lose extra kilos

According to some studies, today’s housewives spend less of their free time. About 20% less than in the 1980s.

This means that the lack of physical activity is a serious contributor to the rising obesity rate among housewives.

Also, the use of brooms, mops and other laborious cleaning methods of yesteryear can be seen as a new way to gradually lose inches from the waist, hips and other parts of the body.

Housework as exercise

Doing housework helps to burn calories.

Just like fitness, running or walking.

Cleaning your windows can help you lose up to 300Kilocalories in an hour. Washing the dishes by hand for 30 minutes will burn up to 150 Kcal per day.

Vacuuming will lose 240 Kcal every 60 minutes.

This means that in addition to good old-fashioned slimming methods such as dieting, eating fruit and vegetables and drinking plenty of water every day, cleaning and doing some exercise will keep your waistline slim despite your motherhood.
